After evaluating childcare options for her growing family, Lynn McKinnon was left with the feeling that something was missing. It seemed that neither “in-home” options, nor franchise facilities offered an alternative for young children’s care and schooling that she felt was a positive addition to their lives. As a parent she wanted to feel good every day about being at work, knowing that her children were learning and growing in an environment that was created to maximize their developmental potential while still feeling happy and cared for.
She spoke with other career mothers and soon realized her ideas and dreams were not uncommon; many of them wished for something more. She decided to investigate the creation of a new standard for young children’s care and education that would be the ‘best’ any parent could ask for, better than any solution currently available. With her mother, Laurie Massaglia, as her business partner, they created Foundations for the Future in May 2004.
